Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) can produce toxic substances that harm human and animal organs and systems. Some GMOs express pesticide-like properties, which have been linked to toxicity and hormone disruption in studies. For example, a Simplot potato variety produces high levels of alpha-aminoadipate, which becomes toxic upon cooking and is linked to diabetes and Alzheimer's. While GMOs are tested for safety, there are limitations to these evaluations, including variability in toxin levels and long-term effects on the food chain.
